Corruption, Collusion, Money Laundering, Lying, Cheating – Don’t You love Politicians?

Up until yesterday, Valerie Plante had a pretty good chance of defeating the current mayor of Montreal Denis Coderre. That changed when she refused to answer which way she voted in the 1995 referendum asking Quebecers to vote to stay in Canada or leave. Everybody remembers how they voted. She said it was a ‘tricky question’. Really? Sounds pretty straightforward to us.

Here’s a headline for Plante: The Quebec political scene is tricky but ya gotta make a decision and take a side. Maybe she thinks she can dance at everybody’s wedding. Guess what? She can’t.

She either voted no to leave Canada or yes to separate.

The fact that she won’t answer the question is indicative of the fact that perhaps she doesn’t want to tick off the separatist vote in Montreal. Instead, she ticked off the federalist vote. The truth is, her non-answer is an answer. She must have voted to leave Canada and doesn’t want to spook her chances of winning and be thought of as a separatist. Too late to undo the damage that she has done and we may get stuck with the bellowing, ungeblusen (overblown) Coderre for another four years.

Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller is bottom-feeding. We learned that quasi-legal term yesterday with the arrests of Trump’s ex-campaign manager Paul Manafort, his aide Richard Gates and last July, George Papadopoulos, Trump’s ex-policy adviser.

While Mueller’s directive is to find out about Russian colluding in the US general elections last November, Manafort and Gates were indicted on charges of money laundering and illegal lobbying charges on behalf of Ukrainian leader Viktor Yanukovych. Papadopoulos was quietly arrested on July 27 of this year and pleaded guilty to charges of lying to the FBI, specifically about meetings in which he discussed potentially colluding with Russian agents to acquire Hillary Clinton’s private emails.

So what is Mueller’s strategy? It appears to arrest lower level people and then, to get them to lessen their sentences, give up the bigger fish. It also came out that no one knew when Papadopoulos was arrested and the thinking is he was wired and caught many conversations that people would have rather not been on a recording.

Mueller’s arrests are being compared to how Al Capone was caught. The feds couldn’t get him on murder, bootlegging, etc. The only thing they could really prove was that he had been hiding the profits from his criminal enterprise, which led to a conviction on tax evasion.

Manafort and Gates will sell  their mothers, children and Trump to stay out of jail. This latest drama in US politics is just beginning.

Now for Quebec’s drama:

Last week, Guy Ouellette, a Member of the National Assembly was arrested by Quebec’s anti-corruption unit (UPAC). He was not charged with anything. Today, Ouellette stood up in Quebec’s national assembly and fought back.

“In an unprecedented attempt to intimidate, I was the victim of a setup by UPAC at the very same time where the members of the committee I preside were preparing to hear testimony from witnesses under our jurisdiction.” He claims that he was set-up and framed.

From the looks of things, someone has to police the police. That of course, would be the normal thing here in Quebec where collusion, graft and corruption has been the norm forever.

UPAC was formed to uncover corruption in Quebec. By arresting Ouellette, it looks like they picked on the wrong person to intimidate. If he knows stuff and can co-oberate his facts, he has UPAC by the short-hairs. He’s not afraid of them (although we would venture a guess that he now has permanent 24-hour protection). Another drama just beginning.

A muslim yelling Allahu Akbar killed at least 8 people in Manhattan today. He used a pick-up truck to run over pedestrians and those on a bike path on the West Side highway. It was  a bloodbath.

Another muslim following ‘orders’. isis put out an edict today threatening halloween attacks. The peaceful koran strikes again. GRrrrrrrrr.

Here’s a tip for the tree-hugging liberals who want to ‘dialogue’ with isis and other terrorist groups and muslims and to Trudeau who wants to open the doors to immigration into Canada:

First go save a whale. Then watch your back cause muslim terrorists are using cars and trucks to go after you. Unless they are vetted for a few years, they are not welcome in North America. And one more thing: the imams who are not reporting these dudes need to be arrested as well. Rant over.

Guess what? The new Champlain bridge won’t be completed on time. We hope you are not surprised. In fact, you should be saying, what else is new in Quebec.

A consortium led by SNC-Lavalin (the same company that is always used and always late) — is suing the federal government for nearly $124 million, alleging it wasn’t forewarned that the existing bridge couldn’t bear the weight required to transport important pieces to the worksite. Seriously?

Isn’t that the job of engineers to find that out? Gets better. Lavalin was forced to come up with alternate routes, “resulting in substantial cost and scheduling issues”.

Nothing in Quebec is done without costing ten times more than anywhere else and nothing is ever completed on time. We hope you are not wondering if this also applies to all the construction going on in Montreal. It does. It will all be late, all be over budget and all be filled with corruption and collusion. Quebec sais faire.

Men With a Sense of Entitlement Are Finally Getting What They Deserve

First there was Bill O’Reilly. Then there was Harvey Weinstein. Now there’s Mark Halperin.

All of those dudes thought themselves invincible. No one is invincible. No one has the right to touch anyone else without their consent. Just because they may be stronger does not allow one to do whatever they want to someone else. Just because they may be the ‘boss’  doesn’t allow them to do what they want.

Bill O’Reilly, the most popular figure on Fox news is gone. Harvey Weinstein used to run Hollywood – he’s gone. Mark Halperin is a political pundit  we often watched on Morning Joe – he’s gone. This is the tip of the iceberg. The first women to come forward paved the way for the rest to find their inner strength and voices. High profile men who were or are sexual predators better find caves to hide in. It’s over for them.

Blanche’s prediction is that we will be hearing from more and more women and we will see more and more men fall from their high horse. What’s interesting about these men is that they don’t even have short-man syndrome. They were just plain entitled pigs. Feh.

There are two massive scandals brewing, both with the Clintons in the middle of them. We apologize for the length of this piece,  but it’s well worth the read.

Here’s the first one:
…The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) helped fund research that resulted in a now-famous dossier containing allegations about Donald Trump’s connections to Russia and possible coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin.

…Marc Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained Fusion GPS, a Washington, D.C., firm, to conduct the research. Fusion GPS hired dossier author Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer with ties to the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community. Elias was paid by an unknown Republican donor who obviously did not want Trump to be president

….The Clinton campaign and the DNC, through the law firm, continued to fund Fusion GPS’ research through the end of October 2016, days before Election Day.

…When the Republican donor stopped paying for the research, Elias, acting on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC, agreed to pay for the work to continue.

Scandal #2
Bill and Hillary are about to learn that they were not entitled to anything, let alone a few hundred million dollars in selling uranium to Russia.

The fact that CNN and MSNBC chose to ignore it this morning will not make it go away. Here’s the story in point form as it’s pretty complicated.

…The Department of Justice has lifted a gag order on a former FBI informant who is expected to have serious information about an agreement that allowed Russia to control about one-fifth of the uranium mining in the U.S. – and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s involvement in it.

…In 2013, Rosatom, backed by the Russian state, acquired a Canadian uranium mining company, now called Uranium One, which has assets in the U.S. Uranium and is key to making nuclear weapons.

…Through the deal, Russia is able to own about 20 percent of U.S. uranium production capacity.

…The agreement was approved by nine US government agencies including the State Department when Clinton was Secretary of State.

Here’s the clincher:
..Some investors involved in the deal reportedly donated millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation. Former President Bill Clinton also received a $500,000 speaking fee in Russia and reportedly met with Vladimir Putin around the time of the deal. Who knew?

The former FBI informant is going to be singing like a bird and will have documents to support what he will be saying.

What to look for:
For the past ten months we have been hearing the media go after Trump and his sons for colluding with the Russians to fix the election. It now looks like it was the Democrats and the their party who, all along, was in bed with the Russians.

We have heard that people could go to prison for this. Blanche, you can be certain that greasy slimy Hillary and Bill will remain free and keep their money. They are truly disgusting people.

At Monday’s general assembly of the Students Society of McGill University, Noah Lew,  was not ratified as a board director because a) he is Jewish and b) due to his opposition to the BDS Movement (Boycott, Divest and Sanctions Movement). When the vote was announced, it was roundly applauded.

While McGill principal Suzanne Fortier says McGill takes this matter very seriously, the student society is free and clear of any sanctions, have their own charter and can give Fortier the finger, which they have done in the past. Basically she is impotent in this matter.

If you went to McGill, may we suggest you voice your opinion and then talk with your check book – send them a check like this: $0.00.

Quebec politics has always been crooked. Nothing seems to go in a straight line. For example the non-working escalators in the metro. Seems it’s going to take about six months to get the parts to fix them. Seriously? It will only take six months if the company that has those parts made some kind of deal with the Quebec government.

Yesterday a many by the name of Guy Ouellette was arrested. Who is he?

A distinguished individual who worked for the Provincial police for over thirty years. His expertise was on the very scary world of criminal biker gangs and his testimony was used in several landmark court cases against the gangs. He co-founded the Wolverine squad — Quebec’s reaction to the increasingly bloody gang war that wracked the province for almost a decade.

Until yesterday, he was a member of the caucus of the Quebec Liberal Party, an MNA who had represented the Laval riding of Chomedey since 2007. Yesterday morning he was arrested by UPAC, Quebec’s anti-corruption unit. Premier Couillard was rendered paralyzed.

It is believed that someone disclosed information to the media about a confidential UPAC investigation into Liberal Party financing, an investigation that involved former premier Jean Charest.

Quebec politicians have long been believed to be on the take. So far, Charest, the former premier has been able to dodge those accusations. Perhaps Ouellette knows something and that’s why he was arrested. Or perhaps he knows others who know things. Stay tuned. This ain’t over yet.

Morris the Accountant vs The Hijab Woman

If you are a tree-hugger perhaps hold on to your chair before you read this. We are speaking about Bill 62 and the controversial hijab law.

Here’s the bottom line which we have said more times than we care to count: Not all muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are muslims. We are not referring to mentally deranged red-necks in the US who get hold of dozens of guns. We are speaking of radicalized muslims who take cars or trucks (the latest mode of terrorist attacks)and ram them directly into people. Or stab them. Or slice them up with a machete.

Lest you think Blanche to be, perish the thought – racist – again we say it is not Morris the accountant taking his Lexus and ramming it into crowds of men, women and children.

Back to Bill 62. To validate a person’s identity, one must be able to see their face. Believe it or not, this is not an unreasonable request.

We are well aware that the Liberals in this province are blatantly presenting this law now because they fear losing the next election and know that in Quebec this law will be viewed favourably and garner them votes. It’s called grovelling. We are also sure that they have a few other ditties up their sleeve before the next election. One we hope is to dump Barrette.

Can someone tell Stevie Wonder to stand up – figuratively and physically?

He recently sang the national anthem while on his knees. Blanche, bring  the barf bag. What the heck good is that going to do? Make him feel like he’s in solidarity with his ‘bros’? And so? What does that get them? Nothing.

Instead of singing on his knees may we suggest that he call up his friend Oprah Winfrey and a few more heavy-weight black stars and put their heads together to figure out how to help their own people. Blaming Trump and every president that came before him, including Obama will not get you anywhere. Nothing will be solved and you will remain static.

What will help is communication. Going from place to place, talking to both young black men and police. Getting them together in a room to dialogue. It’s called taking ownership.

Hillary is still at it. She was in Montreal last night, speaking in front of 3,500 people reiterating, yet again, that she was not the reason the Democrats lost the election.

This woman is becoming one of the most pathetic figures to fall in a very long time. And she’s not going gracefully. In fact, she’s stumbling out – she broke her toe and is wearing a boot – making a total fool out of herself.

Montreal’s mayoralty election is coming up quickly and last night there was a debate between the two candidates – Denis Coderre and Valerie Plante. She seemed to be able to hold her own, as Coderre can be quite the bombastic bumbling loud mouth.

Coderre is a seasoned politician as was witnessed last night. In the English debate with quite a few Jewish Montrealers present, he asked Plante a surprise question –  if she supports the BDS movement. Her response after being pushed: ‘Let’s say I’m against it to make things easy.’ Can we talk?

What exactly does that mean? Here’s a tip for Plante: One is either pregnant or not. One either supports the BDS movement or not. There is no middle ground on either of those issues. She best get her act together very quickly and make a statement where she is holding on the issue. If she cannot take a stand, then perhaps she’s not quite ready to be mayor.

Here’s a lead headline in one of the sports magazines: Historic failure: The Canadiens are on one of the worst losing streaks in their existence.

It is becoming very obvious that the Molson brothers who own the team don’t need the money generated from said team. In fact, we are beginning to wonder if they need the team for a tax loss or something like that.

People are not going to keep paying a few hundred dollars to go see the most losing team in our history. If they continue to do nothing and make no changes to the administration we may, sadly, be proven right.

We’ll talk…

To Cover or Not To Cover, That is the Question

Whoever is wrong in the story of Trump and the widow of a soldier killed in Niger should rot somewhere. If the media  is willing to fabricate or mis-inform the public, they should all have to go and apologize to this woman.

If Trump said what they say he said, then he needs to go and apologize to her. To take advantage of someone’s grief in this way is disgusting. Frankly, what should happen here is that the Trump administration should sit down with the news media and find a way to be, at the very least, human.

Sorry if we sound politically incorrect, but there is nothing wrong with Bill 62 in Quebec. A bill that obliges citizens to uncover their faces while giving and receiving state services is now law. And so?

Here’s a headline for liberal tree-huggers: People lie about who they are. People try to do nasty things to other people. If one has nothing to hide, then they will discreetly uncover their face while giving or receiving state services. Ya don’t like it, don’t give or receive the services.

As for walking in the street with a niqab, who cares. It’s a free society and people can dress as they please. If one is not happy with this, may we suggest you move to Turkey or some other up and coming muslim country to see what it really means to be living under a dictatorship.

If the American black community is looking for a leader, Oprah Winfrey is not it. She has categorically said she will not run for any office. Ever.

While people do have to respect her wishes, there is no reason that she does not step up to the plate on other issues. Black people need a leader and right now they don’t have one. She is not only successful, but it appears that there are not many, if any, skeletons in her closet. She is uniquely placed too lead but has chosen to remain a private person. Kind of selfish, eh Blanche?

While it may have faded from the news, Puerto Rico is still fighting for its life. FEMA personnel and 14,000 members of the US military are on the ground distributing bottled water, food, and other supplies. Yet, many Puerto Ricans’ basic needs like clean water are still not being met.

The water crisis is directly related to, and reinforced by, the electricity problem. More than 80 percent of the island’s electricity customers still have no access to power after the electrical grid was wiped out in the storm. “No electricity means no power to pump water into homes, no water to bathe or flush toilets.” Electricity is needed to clean and distribute water too.

That is a continuing disaster on many levels.

Blanche, did you ever go to a place where you were bored out of your mind? Be happy you are not in China at the twice-a-decade meeting of the Communist Party Congress where Chinese president Xi Jinping spoke for three and a half hours. Seriously?

Who can talk for such a long time? And who wants to hear what they are saying? And who wrote three hours of nothing. Very special.

In case you are following the Catalonia-Spain story, here’s the latest news: It’s not happening.

Yesterday, Catalonia said it would absolutely not back off its secession plans from Spain, which means that the Spanish government will now be taking over the region. In case you didn’t know, the Catalonia region includes Barcelona.

Earlier this month, the region voted in favor of breaking ties with Spain. Spain says the vote goes against the country’s constitution and gave Catalonia until today to change its mind. T

As they chose not to change their minds, this coming Saturday, Spain will take the unprecedented step of taking full control of the region’s government and calling for new elections.

Les Habs lost again last night. When exactly will the Montreal sports world stop saying this is just the beginning of the season and come to the realization that we have a fourth or fifth rate team? Ok Blanche, put your hand down. What’s the answer? When they start losing money.

Good Shabbos,

Naive, Save-the-World Tourists Need to Take a Reality Pill

Some people who read the Blanche report have done their own form of reporting and decided that the news we are giving along with the commentary is not that nice. Seriously?

Here’s a headline: there’s nothing nice to write about someone like Harvey Weinstein, nor is there anything nice about how quiet the democrat party was for quite a few days after stuff hit the fan. It’s very easy to say now that Weinstein didn’t get away with anything. Well, here’s another newsflash: he got away with being one of the grossest people in Hollywood for about three decades. That news is factual. So, if what people want are happy yummy stories, perhaps read about migrating birds, sand turtles or how to make gefilte fish. Here we deal with hardcore news.

It appears that the new leader in Austria will, at 31 years old, be the world’s youngest leader. He looks like a teenager. Pretty scary. It’s not a done deal yet. He ran on a platform similar to Trump’s – put Austrian people first. That of course equals a strong anti-immigration policy.

If he does win, he will have to form a coalition and it will most likely be with the far right party. Stay tuned to this one.

We are sure you heard about the rescue of Canadian Joshua Boyle and his wife, Caitlan Coleman who were kidnapped in early October 2012 as they trekked across Afghanistan. Blanche, can we talk?

Who, in their right mind, goes to Afghanistan on vacation?  Or North Korea where the school sanctioned trip resulted in the brutal murder of Otto Warmbier. It’s not fun, cool or adventurous to go to those places. You are not going to save the world by going to try to ‘talk’ to people involved in centuries old tribal warfare.

It’s stupid and selfish because after you get caught governments have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to rescue you. Here’s a tip: You want adventure? Go hang-gliding.

Hillary Clinton is addicted to politics and simply cannot come to terms with the fact that she lost the election. She recently lumped Donald Trump together with Harvey Weinstein. Could someone please pass this memo onto her: nobody cares what she thinks.

Aside from a lawsuit that may come her way, her inflammatory statements are not going to get rid of Trump nor put her in the White House. That’s over and done with.

Instead of trying to unite the country, she is doing her damnedest to split the country and demean the office of the president. She is quite the piece of work.

One more thing about Hillary. Here’s what not to do if you don’t want to break any bones in your body: Run downstairs in heels with a cup of coffee and fall backwards! The exclamation point came from Hillary as she is now on crutches with a boot because she broke her toe doing all of the above. We wish her well.

Vacation update: Due to the recent hurricanes and massive destruction in  Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and St. Thomas, just about all basic infrastructure was wiped out. Many of these island nations or protectorates are in danger of quickly becoming welfare states.

Here’s what you need to know in case you are a) thinking to go to those places on vacation or b) some lowlife tour operator is trying to tell you that cruise ships can still go there: The rebuilding will take a minimum of two years. Don’t go and don’t give your money to anyone who tells you that it’s ok to go.

Remember a couple of weeks ago the United States announced 300 per cent preliminary duties on exports of the aircraft following a complaint from Airbus rival Boeing. Well, big corporations are not going to lie down and just let anyone run them over.

European aircraft giant Airbus Group bought a majority stake in Bombardier’s CSeries program is now going to assemble the plane in the U.S. to avoid import duties. What does that mean for Quebec’s darling Bombardier and Quebec’s never-ending investment in that company?

Bombardier will own 31 per cent and the Quebec government’s investment agency will hold 19 per cent, down from 49.5 per cent when it invested US$1 billion in the program. And the final nail in the Bombardier coffin? Airbus can buy out Bombardier after 7.5 years and the Quebec government in 2023.

In case you don’t understand all this business jargon, it means that in a few years Bombardier will no longer be owned by Canada.

Many sports pundits are saying that the Montreal Canadiens will be fine during the rest of the season as they have lost almost every game they played so far this year. One of their players has shaved his head hoping to bring good luck to the team. They don’t need luck. They need to start playing like professionals who are being paid millions of dollars to do so.

Instead of shaving their heads or growing beards or buying good luck roosters, how about getting their act together as a team? Hockey in most small towns in Quebec is the first, only and official religion. The Habs don’t want to find themselves going the way of the catholic churches which are now empty.

Attention Liberal Lovers: Try Hugging A Tree After You Give Trudeau All Your Savings

In case you were wondering if the media is taking sides against Trump, wonder no more.

Harvey Weinstein was one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. While that may be his first claim to fame, his second could be tied for first: He is a huge supporter of Hillary and Bill, Barack Obama and many other Democratic politicians and has raised zillions of dollars for them. He made sure that anybody who was anybody in Hollywood got to the White House. He set up events for Bill and Hillary and Barack and Michelle. He was their go-to person to the stars.

Well, Harvey has been one busy, lewd dude in the last few decades – busy sexually harassing women. In fact, it was the worst kept secret in Hollywood. In the past few days after word got out that his pants needed  a lock, he was fired from the company he founded.

Now we will jog your memory. Remember that gross conversation that Trump had on a bus with Billy Bush. It was truly nasty. Well, when that conversation became public, Trump was tarred, feathered and hung out to dry for a few weeks.

Harvey Weinstein and all his friends are  getting a pass from the media for staying friends with this lowlife knowing, for decades, of his gross behaviour. His dear democrat friends – not the deplorables – are silent. Deafeningly silent.

Blanche, do you think that the media is colluding with Hollywood to protect all the slime balls who were friends with Weinstein? If you answered yes you are correct. The media is as slimy as Harvey, if not more so for protecting both him and his ‘friends’. Capital ICH.

Trudeau, aka the fancy sock boy, is busy trying to collect money from anybody who has a dime that they saved. If you are a small business owner like a dentist, sales agent, lawyer or accountant, watch out – you are on their radar.

Remember when he ran and said he didn’t care if there was a deficit? Remember he said he would keep the deficit at $10 billion? Well dearies, he failed and his spending is outta control. Now he and his cohorts are frantically trying to plug up all the holes in the dam – with your hard-earned savings.

If you have a stash of money you have saved for a rainy day or have put away in case you have a nasty year in business or pick any other reason, Trudeau wants that money. What, you already pay taxes on what you earn? Pssshhhh – who cares about that.

Here’s the scoop: It used to be that if you took out that money you would pay about 45% tax on it. That’s bad enough. If Trudeau’s tax ‘reform’ goes through, you will be paying around 73% tax on that money.

We are guessing you can figure out that you won’t be seeing much of your hard earned savings. You want ‘refugees’  from the United States to get $27,000 each plus living and medical expenses? You want to save the world? So now you are but guess what? Somebody has to pay those bills and thanks to you, we are all those somebodies.

You will now have to wait until 2019 to vote this genius out and get someone in like the conservative leader by the name of Andrew Scheer who is intelligent, sensible, humble and surrounds himself with like people. Familiarize yourself with that name. He will save you from yourself. In the meantime go hug a tree after you fork over your money to Trudeau. Maybe you’ll feel better.

While we don’t want to harp on the media going after Trump, they are just the gift that keeps on giving. Yesterday, Ivana, Trump’s first wife said that as she was the first wife, well then, she should also be called the first lady, n’est pas?

Instead of treating this as the tongue-in-cheek remark that it was, the media is foaming at the mouth, declaring the war of the first ladies. Seriously? How low can the media go to try to get at Trump?

Premier Couillard is about to shuffle his cabinet. At least he didn’t wait until five minutes before the election. Seems he thinks those around him are too old, giving the image of, shall we say, old farts running the province. (Blanche, you are disgusting)

How about too arrogant giving the image of we don’t care a hoot what you little plebs think?

Until Couillard gets off his high horse and comes down a notch or two,  he’s not going to be around much longer.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell finally woke up regarding that ‘take a knee’ business, no doubt because revenues are dropping like the knees of the players. It appears that Monday night football has fallen to an all time low.

In a letter sent to all 32 league owners, Goodell said, …”the current dispute over the National Anthem is threatening to erode the unifying power of our game, and is now dividing us, and our players, from many fans across the country.”

He then went on to be much more specific: “Like many of our fans, we believe that everyone should stand for the National Anthem.” Can’t get much clearer than that, eh Blanche?

Now let’s wait and see what the players decide to do. Let’s see…give up their millions of dollars or kneel for the anthem and risk getting fired. No brainer here.

Our pretty-faced prime minister is not only spending his money on keeping up his hair and looks. Seems those selfies are a rather expensive political tool. Read this next part carefully because we know you won’t believe it:

Security costs for Trudeau have hit a record $2.3-million a month. Got that Blanche?Obviously Trudeau needs the accolades of his adoring fans. Too bad we have to pay for that.

A couple decided to get married at the old forum. Has anyone seen this couple? There are no words. We will leave you to google wedding Montreal forum. We can only say that it will take you a while to come to yourself. Very special.

Sears closed all their stores in Canada. Anyone shop there in the past, oh, ten years? As their real estate is in B or C malls, as opposed to A malls, we will venture a guess that nobody cares except their employees.

Blanche has two announcements: Firstly, we are offline again on Thursday as it is the last of the  holidays, so this report will be the only one this week.

Secondly, Blanche is going on assignment to Israel. We will be leaving this Sunday, returning the following Sunday. We will be posting twice next week, but as there is a seven hour time difference, your email may arrive at a strange time. Back to regularly scheduled programming the week of October 23.

We’ll talk…

Couillard’s Alarm Clock Best Be Waking Him Up

Sometimes, we wish that all we did was simply report the news with no commentary. Life would certainly be much simpler that way. Such is not the case. So we will give commentary straight from the heart.

As simple plebs, there is nothing we can do to stop someone from creating the carnage that happened in Las Vegas. Or in Sandy Hook. Or in Miami. Or in Colombine. Or in Oklahoma. Or in Boston.

We are not legislators who can change gun laws. Society can’t punish those who do these horrific things because most of the time they kill themselves. So what’s left for us to do?

Although it may sound very simplistic, often answers are found in the most simple words. Just be a nice, decent person. Do acts of goodness and kindness – not just today or tomorrow, but every day, even when we forget about Las Vegas, which we will in about two days.

While we can’t change what happens in the rest of the world, we can affect change in our four cubits. If each person was nice to everyone they met – no matter what one thinks they did to you or how they looked at you – imagine what our communities would look like?

For the moment, no one knows the reason for this latest massacre. If he were a terrorist, or had mental health issues or was homeless or showed some signs of anger… Doesn’t seem to be the case yet. Obviously something triggered his sick need to slaughter innocent people, but it will take some digging to find out what it was.

Which makes this all the more frustrating and makes us, who sit by and watch helplessly, feel, well, even more helpless. Don’t feel helpless. And don’t try to change the world. Change yourself and the world will follow.

Couillard’s Liberals got a huge kick you-know-where yesterday when the CAQ buried them in a by-election. We have been saying for months that people are seething with anger at the entitled, obnoxious and disgusting behaviour of Barrette, our health minister. He has dealt with the hospitals, doctors, auxiliary staff and the public with total disdain and all the while Couillard remained silent, which is tacit to his stamp of approval.

Couillard is a doctor by profession. It would do him well to take the pulse of the population and dump Barrette before it’s too late.

Couillard seems to be living in some kind of altered world. Or perhaps the same world that Hillary Clinton lived in – surrounded by yes-men who don’t tell him the truth, rather what he wants to hear. Can someone get close to him and please whisper in his ear that people are angry enough to take their chances with Francois Legault. It appears that they don’t care if was once a separatist. It appears that they despise Barrette enough to take that chance.

Don’t panic, but it snowed about 20 inches in the mountains of Montana. It’s coming…

What got lost in this week’s news was the terrorist attack in Edmonton. Thirty-year-old Abdulahi Sharif (no, he’s not a Jewish accountant) took a van, rammed it into a police officer, then got out and stabbed him. He then took that van and in the chase with the police, ran people down while trying to escape. He managed to hit four people.

Trudeau, our Prime Minister spoke later the next day. Of course he said he was outraged and deeply concerned about the incident. Ah, but then he couldn’t help himself but say the following: We know that Canada’s strength comes from our diversity. Can we talk?

Does he have to pander to muslims when a muslim rammed five people with a van? No he doesn’t. He chose to do that because the muslim who rammed that van into those people was a Somali refugee who came to Canada in 2012. Initial information on the documents indicated he was sponsored by the federal government for one year.

It then came out that Sharif presented himself at an official port of entry and then claimed asylum status. He was granted refugee status later that year. Was he vetted? Maybe for five minutes. Obviously he was not vetted properly and obviously he came here with an agenda which he managed to carry out. He bided his time until he was ready or someone told him to strike.

Now go re-read Trudeau’s diversity comment. It’s nauseating. Canada’s strength comes from its people, not from being diverse. Canada’s strength comes from people coming here with one agenda: to make our country a better, safer, more peaceful place. Feh on Trudeau.

More people regret sex change and want to ‘detransition’. Really? What about the little kids who decide they are boys and want to be girls or vis-a-versa and the parents say to their little dearies whatever makes you happy.

Here’s a headline: ‘Whatever makes you happy’ is not parenting. Parenting is telling your child that until you are of age to vote, your vote doesn’t count in our house. We are the parents, we make the rules. Case closed.

Can we be a bit shallow? Why can’t Julie Payette, our new Governor General fix her hair and put on a bit of makeup? Au natural is fine when you’re six years old. After forty everyone needs a bit of help. Can someone please help her? Maybe tell her to call Kate Middleton. She wears the bare minimum of makeup and always looks great. Well, she’s also much younger but you get the drift – Kate gets it.

This has nothing to do with how smart she is. We all know that. She is now representing our country and frankly Blanche, we’d rather not look like country bumpkins.

You may or may not recall the pit bull who mauled a woman to death last summer. This week the corner sided with the SPCA and said that evidence is mounting against breed-specific measures. The city called for pit bulls to be muzzled and basically are not fit to be pets.

In case you were wondering about pit bulls, we will enlighten you: Today’s pit bull is a descendant of the original English bull-baiting dog – a dog that was bred to bite and hold bulls, bears and other large animals around the face and head. When baiting large animals was outlawed in the 1800s, people turned instead to fighting their dogs against each other.

So, were poodles or cocker spaniels or any other docile dog bred to bite and hold and basically kill their opponent? No.

Blanche, remember when we were walking on the street and a dude with a pit bull had him on a leash? Remember how scared you were? Why? Because the leash was a chain and the owner had trouble restraining his dog. End of discussion and case closed.

Blanche will return next Tuesday as the holiday of Sukkot falls this week on Thursday and Friday.

We’ll talk…
