A Predictable, Infuriating, Heart-wrenching Massacre...The Dirty Business of Politics...

ree

Although there is very little we, at the other end of the world can do to ease the pain of those who lost family and friends in Sydney Australia, we are recognizing them before anything else.

One of them was the murdered people was Chabad emissary, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, of righteous memory. He was cold-bloodedly gunned down along with at least another eleven people, one of them we know a 12 year old girl.

What happened in Sydney Australia was predictable thanks in part to their government who recognized and kept on pushing for a palestinian state. They proudly said Netanyahu would be arrested if he came to Australia. They emboldened terrorists. They emboldened their own fringe people who were radicalized online.

People with half a brain kept saying over and over again that the foolish and very dangerous rhetoric that aaza should be its own country rewarded hamas for October 7, the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.

We have the same fools governing our country. We have the same attacks on Jewish institutions and people in government with the same do-nothing attitude here in Canada as in Australia.

We don't want to sound the alarm, but if you think this can't happen here, take the needle out of your arm.

By appeasing murderers and terrorists, our government isn’t pursuing peace. It is dodging responsibility.

It cowardly leaves Israel to do the world’s dirty work, sending its sons and daughters to confront threats others are too afraid to face. And then they go and call Israel a genocidal country? Or Carney's moronic comment that he would arrest Netanyahu if he came to Canada?

Rabbi Schlanger, of righteous memory very recently sent a letter to the prime minister of Australia telling him what a huge mistake he was making to encourage a palestinian state. He was right and paid for that with his life.

Mark Carney, our completely tone-deaf prime minister spouted these empty words: Canada stands with the people of Australia and Jewish people everywhere in sorrow, and determination never to bow to terrorism, violence, hatred and intimidation.

Canada stands with Australia? Canada doesn't bow to terrorism? How about standing with the Jews in Toronto who are exposed to daily Jew-hating attacks? How about stopping 'praying' in the middle of the street, done to intimidate people. That might actually help. Instead, at protests, the police are told to remove any Jews with Israeli flags as they might incite the muslim protesters.

Contrast Carney's weakling statement with Trump's strong, to-the-point words: He told Jewish Americans to celebrate Chanukah proudly.

And that is what we must do. If you have a public Chanukah menorah lighting today or anytime this week, go. And go proudly not in fear. In the end, light will overcome darkness and the lights of the menorah are a good place to start.

And one more thing.. noch a zach.

Did you know that in Australia, as in Canada, security guards cannot be armed? What is the point of having security guards in synagogues or at Jewish events if they cannot stop people with guns set out to murder as many Jews as possible in the shortest possible time?

We are told the security guards are deterrents. They are not deterrents. They are sitting ducks who will be the first ones hit if, G-d forbid there is an attack.

And finally...will Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow attend the Chanukah Menorah event at Bathurst and Sheppard today?

There's dirty politics and then there's dirty politics.

What happened this past Thursday night when a nobody backbencher by the name of Michael Wa crossed the floor from the conservative to the liberal party was really dirty politics.

Let's start with the election we just had and all the people who voted for him as a conservative. If they wanted a liberal MP they would have elected a liberal. But they wanted and elected a conservative, even if the results were close.

Then there's the really below the belt part.

The night before, Ma and his wife attended the conservative holiday party, danced, ate, rubbed shoulders and had loads of fun with their friends. They proudly took a group photo with a smiling Pierre Poilievre. Ma knew he was about to stab Poilievre in the back, yet stood there smiling like snake.

In the late afternoon of the next day, while the Liberal holiday party was taking place, it was announced that Ma had crossed the floor and given Carney the gift of being one member shy of a majority government, which would ensure him of four years in power.

Michael Ma stood on stage with Carney, awestruck at the roaring ovation he received. He then uttered the same immortal words of Sally Field when she received an Oscar: "They like me. They really, really like me."

Michael Ma is a sneaky weasel who will never be trusted again. If he could do what he did to Poilievre, he could easily stab Carney in the back the same way. He obviously will be handsomely rewarded for his move but that is immaterial.

If Ma no longer wanted to be a conservative, he should have left the conservative party, sat as an independent and asked for a by-election. Let the people decide.

The adage your vote counts means absolutely nothing anymore.

We'll talk...
