Two stories of people returning to 'save the day'.
The first is Elizabeth May coming back from whatever tree she was hugging to save the Green Party. Can we talk? Can someone please tell her that the Green Party is kaput. Done. Over. Dead in the water. There is so much in-fighting and anti-semitism in that party that they have zero time left to save the whales-turtles-trees and ducks.
The second is Bob Iger who returned to Disney World from his 'retirement' where he was probably making gzillions of dollars a year.
Iger himself chose the current CEO Bob Chapek as his successor. Clearly, and this could be the understatement of this year, Chapek was a bad choice. In fact, it was so bad that Iger had to come back to Disney to save it from Chapek's seeming quest to run the company into the ground.
He would also do well to dump Disney's corporate president Karey Burke who is the 'proud' mother of one transgender child and one pansexual child and Disney's Diversity and Inclusion Manager Vivian Ware who removed all of the gendered greetings.
Disney is a fun place for families. Beginning and end of story.
Of all the things happening in the world these days, and there are many, the following story shows how entitled and out of touch those who manage to get elected to office are. It is not an earth shattering story, but very telling.
Valerie Plante, erstwhile mayor of Montreal just spent $600 million on a garage for buses. Why? Because whoever did the planning decided to add an underground garage to the plans and when they started to dig guess what they found? Rocks. 'Somehow' the costs skyrocketed - read extensive graft and payoffs and zero planning.
Counter this with a bunch of senior Italian men who want to play bocce ball. In all fairness, we wrote to Madame Plante and one of her aides quickly responded. It appears that three boroughs in Montreal are involved in this issue.
The place where the bocce ball is played is located Ahuntsic-Cartierville, but many of the players come from the boroughs of Montreal-North and Saint-Laurent, so Ahuntsic-Cartierville wants the other two boroughs to kick in $60,000 a year. Seems they refused.
As all of these places are on the island of Montreal and Madame Plante is mayor of the island of Montreal and if she has $600 million to build a garage, we are sure that the city can find $151,000 to help defray the costs for a bunch of Italian senior citizens. She would look like a hero instead of the person responsible for making bike lanes which create no parking zones which in turn destroys businesses in that area.
That is called out of touch with reality and passing the buck because she can't find money to help seniors is also out of touch with reality. The city squanders more money in one year than anyone can dream of.
Madame Plante best hope as she ages the next mayors will be nicer to her than she is to the seniors under her administration.
FIFA, the soccer world's organization awarded the latest world cup soccer games to Qatar in 2010. Since then, FIFA has been riddled with one scandal after the next.
From allegations of corruption and bribery during the bidding process to host the tournament, to accusations that Qatar is using the event to “sportswash” its record of human rights abuses, many are not happy the games are there.
According to an analysis by the Guardian, at least 6,500 migrant laborers have died in Qatar since the tournament was awarded to the country in 2010. Global tensions around the competition have been further inflamed by FIFA’s controversial decision to move it to the northern hemisphere’s winter to avoid Qatar’s intense summer heat, a move that critics have seized on as proof that FIFA is bending over backward to accommodate an already-troublesome host.
Qatar is not, by a very long shot any sort of democracy. It stinks to high heaven that they were awarded these games and we, as well as many others are boycotting the games completely. Not that we are such avid soccer fans, but as we have learned, when it stinks, it stinks from the head down and who wants to support any country like that.
It appears that czar legault is admitting that people from the rest of the world, specifically the United States are not moving to Quebec. He was told this would happen by doctors, businessmen and people involved in the high-tech world.
We are getting immigrants from french speaking African countries - because they speak french - what a relief - but that's about it.
Americans are not interested in presenting their birth certificate in English only to be told to get it translated into french at their own expense. Nor are they interested in the little missives of the office de la langue francais coming into their offices and seizing their computers and phones because they are using the dreaded english language.
Nor do they want to be forced to put their children into french schools because they have no proof that they themselves went to an english school here.
So what is the czar planning to do? Put ads in American papers telling people that Bill 21 and more specifically Bill 96 are not as bad as they think. Oh really? Has the czar read those bills? Is that why he had to invoke the notwithstanding clause?
Trying to be the savior of the french language when the rest of the business world speaks english was and is ridiculous. Good morning America.
In the stay-in-your-lane department, the NHL - National Hockey League is clearly not watching what happened to Disney World when they waded into the world of the woke culture.
The NHL promoted a transgender and non-binary hockey tournament asserting, “Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non-binary identity is real.” Spare us. Please.
Someone commented on photos of the game, saying, “So, men playing on womens team?” the NHL account fired back: “Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Nonbinary identity is real.”
Blanche, imagine what the locker room looked like? Who dressed where? Men who pretend they are women go into the women's locker room and women who pretend they are men go into the women's locker room?
Someone else posted that the NHL should let a biological woman who thinks she is a man line up against Alexander Ovechkin and see how that theory works out for them.
Seriously, this is one for Saturday Night Live. This is not going to end well and the NHL would be wise to stay out of the woke bs.
