One has to wonder what planet Justin and his Minister of Environment Steven Guilbeault live on. Seriously. They literally are talking out of you-know-where creating unrealistic, unworkable and impractical edicts.
These two clowns decided that by 2035 every car in Canada has to be electric. Bing. On went their light bulbs. Clearly they don't own an electric car or if they do, have their minions making sure their cars are charged.
Do they know that in cold weather electric cars function at 30% less capacity? Do they know that Canada is in the north and, zut alors it's cold? Do they know that they will need to create way, way WAY more charging stations? Unless of course people are prepared to spend an hour or so waiting to have their car charged.
When Justin makes sweeping, meaningless statements such as this, we cannot take anything he says seriously. Wait Blanche. You know you are talking about the mother-of-all-drama-queens? Now everything makes sense.
Sam Bankman-Fried - Mr. Crypto-Ponzi - came back to the US from the Bahamas and has been released on bail - $250,000 bail. He is now in the custody of his parents - both Stanford law professors.
We have a friend (and Blanche reader) who lives in El Paso Texas, the front line of the American immigration crisis. Lucky for her, she is currently in NY. She sent me an article of what the city has had to do to deal with the thousands of immigrants flowing across the border daily.
In support of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the City of El Paso has identified “several mass shelter” facilities that will support between 1,000 to 2,000 beds throughout the community to augment the work of the local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). The locations — once stood up — will not be shared publicly at this time for the safety and security of the staff and migrants.
In addition to the American Red Cross support, the City and OEM are working to identify additional support to provide essential services such as food, bathrooms, showers, toiletries, security, and transportation.
The city has also initiated the use of two hotels to use as emergency shelter hotels to ensure individuals and families are able to get off the streets and out of the cold weather.
The City of El Paso International Airport — which has an overnight capacity for less than 200 people — is providing overnight shelter to an average of 400 to 600 ticketed passengers who are scheduled to fly out of El Paso within a 12-hour period.
Now you have a picture of what is happening in all the southern border cities. At least El Paso is dealing with their situation.
Next is a Blanche reader who sent us an article regarding the State of New York's Senate giving themselves a 30% raise. As she said, she's lucky if she gets a 3% raise.
It is to be noted that this is the second $30,000 plus raise in four years.
To give you a sense of real time numbers: NYS Assembly and Senate are considering a 56% pay hike, going from $79,500 to $110,000 and now to a staggering $142,000 over the course of just a few years.
Now for the part that needs the barf bag:
The senate was holding hearings concerning Veterans Affairs. Guess how many NY elected officials who said they needed a 30% raise because they work so hard were sitting in the assembly? 5 out of 19 people on this committee. That would be 26%.
So much for the hard-working NY assembly men and women. We are guessing they are using the same money tree as Justin only this one is worth 30% more in US$.
Update to Trudeau's 2035 electric car idiocy: Like her or not, she's no shrinking violet, speaks her mind and guess what? She makes sense.
We are speaking of the premier of Alberta Danielle Smith. When she heard about Justin's edict that all cars in Canada must be electric by 2035 guess what she said? That her government may use the Sovereignty Act for the first time to oppose it.
Let Justin chew on those words for a while. Oh wait. Czar legault used the notwithstanding clause to smash the Anglo's rights in Quebec. Did anyone hear a peep out of Justin? Zip. Zero. Zilch. Let's see what happens now.
One thing we know. Justin doesn't like when women stand up to him. Somehow his masculinity is threatened. We also think that Ms. Smith doesn't give a rats what Justin thinks. This is going to be a good one if it ever comes to a real fight.
The storm that is causing havoc with people's travel plans over the holidays is causing way more than havoc. Parts of New Jersey, Maine and Long Island are expected to be swamped by 1 to 3 feet of flooding followed by freezing. Ich.
Forecasters have said the storm could rapidly strengthen into what is known as a “bomb cyclone” through a process known as “bombogenesis,” when the barometric pressure drops and a cold air mass collides with a warm air mass.
So far, more than 1,500 flights were canceled across the United States today with a triple threat of heavy snow, howling winds and bitter cold.
While many poo-poo the so-called hysteria of the weather peeps, we're guessing it's better to be safe than sorry - stuck on a highway freezing with no food. You don't want to wind up like the picture depicted here - on a highway with white-outs.
Take our advice - at the very least check out the weather before you go anywhere, especially if you are driving.
