Not Why, Rather What...Still Missing...A Correction...

How to start writing about yet another mass murder...
Does it matter if the person was transgender? No. That is to miss the point, make people feel sorry for this person and take the focus off the victims. This person had very, very serious mental health issues which were documented.
The murderer was born a boy and while he may have had long hair and worn dresses, he is still a he and not, as some news outlets are referring to him, a she. The more intelligent media simply say his name and avoid that issue. Here in Montreal's very liberal, woke radio station? This person is a she. Woke as it comes. But we digress.
When he said he wanted to become a girl, it should have set off alarms and he should have been treated as someone with a serious underlying illness, with that request examined as a possible symptom of it. Instead, the medical establishment affirmed it. Welcome to liberal, socialist Canada. He was then put on cross-sex hormones. Who exactly were the so-called professionals who approved and carried this out?
Does it matter that the person had serious mental health issues? Yes. He was very, very ill.
Does it matter that he was able to procure weapons when the police were frequently called to that house because of those mental health issues? Absolutely. The essence of the tragedy.
And because some people turned a blind eye, this person shot 35 people, most of them children, 10 of whom died.
And yet...
The Bondi Beach massacre was perpetrated not by men with mental health issues, but by antisemites who were radicalized in Australia and had multiple weapons. Every other mass murder we can think of had one thing in common: easy access to weapons.
We cannot think of one mass murderer who was transplanted from another country in order to commit such a crime.
So the question of why is useless.
The bigger question is what can be done to prevent this from happening again. And the answer is deceptively simple. Very little.
For whatever reasons, our government is reluctant to implement two things: Allow security guards to carry weapons and do a serious mental health check on anyone who wants to buy a gun. Perhaps involving the police where store owners could simply enter a name and see if that person is flagged.
Did you know that at gun shows people can just walk in and buy a gun? Or they can simply order one online.
Jewish days schools have a real, ongoing fear of such a thing happening. But a school in the boonies of British Columbia?
In fact, people moved there precisely because it is in the boonies and they thought such a thing would never happen there. It's interesting to note that the school had live shooter drills so they were not completely cut off from the world.
On another note, we take strong exception to the media who keep calling the victims “people.” They were, for the most part, 12- and 13-year-old children, with the exception of one teacher. Why can’t they say it as it is? Children were murdered.
The other idiotic moment came from the media which initially referred to the murderer as a “gunperson.” Welcome to woke Canada. Get a grip. This isn’t progress, it’s moral cowardice wrapped in politically correct crap. That man had a temper tantrum and instead of just killing himself, he took innocent children with him.
One can only pray for those who were affected. Such pain crosses all lines, all politics, all identities. It is simply unspeakable.

Nancy Guthrie has been missing since January 31. Finally, there seems to have been some kind of break in the case. One has to wonder who is running the investigation.
Nearly 2 weeks later, people within a two-mile radius of her house were told to check their ring cameras. We're guessing that this should have been done from the get-go.
The FBI finally announced a $50,000 reward for any piece of information which can lead to her safe return. It's a bit late in the game for that but better late than never.
This case is strange because in most other ransom cases against kidnappings, families have been contacted immediately and unequivocally. But this time, there’s been no demand and no outreach at all. The absence of contact has left experts and the public alike searching for an explanation of what occurred.
This case reminds us of the Sherman murders in Toronto. The police bungled the first few days and the murderer was never caught. To this day, they are still looking and it's been 9 years.
We really hope the police are luckier in this case.

Then there's Zohran Mamdani, NYC's moronic socialist woke mayor.
During the deep freeze a week ago, he stubbornly stayed the course by allowing homeless people to refuse shelter. He also ordered the NYPD to stop taking down homeless encampments.
Entre nous, the vast percentage of homeless people also have mental health issues. Did Mamdani think that by asking them politely to move to a warm place they were going to listen?
In fact, 18 did not and froze to death. Mamdani is silent.

Blanche has some interesting and very intelligent readers. One such person contacted us and felt our description of french Canadians was, shall we say, not nice.
In fact we agreed with him and will use clearer language in the future. Given that, we explained our frustration, which we are guessing is shared with many, including this person:
Just when we start to creep out of an economic slump, the PQ rears its ugly head and starts thumping the referendum drum. Goodbye economic growth.
There are people who know what's really happening on the ground and from what we hear, it's worse that one can imagine. Driving around one will be astonished at how many a louer signs there are, especially in industrial areas.
More than people are leaving. Businesses are either leaving or not expanding or moving their head office to Ontario. Quietly, with no fanfare. And because of that, because property owners have less places rented and are increasing the rent of present tenants.
People who own apartment buildings downtown are losing their shirts because legault chased out immigrant students. Now we have a huge amount of empty apartments.
The bureaucracy here is the biggest impediment to economic growth. So those who are already here are here. But new businesses? New brains? Immigrants who went to university but are now shut out? Bringing in specialists, especially medical ones is almost unheard of as schooling is the big issue and they just say why come here if they can go to Ontario or elsewhere in Canada, put down roots and work.
So no, the grass isn’t greener anywhere else. But the truth is, this place could be one of the jewels of the world. Instead, French-Canadian politicians seem determined to run it into the ground and then, as Legault will no doubt do, walk away without a shred of accountability for the mess he leaves behind.
We, as well as many others are watching cities like New York with their new socialist mayor, waiting to see how far they will fall. So we're not the only ones in this kind of mess.
We are guessing that many are saying Trump is causing total havoc in the world, especially here in Canada.
All of this shall pass. We only hope it is before too much damage is done. In fact, there is a ray of hope. Montreal's previous mayor Valerie Plante was the worst mayor we ever had. Ever. She literally destroyed the downtown core of Montreal.
But...there was an election, she's gone and the new mayor seems to be normal and able to communicate with people. Something Plante never did. Dictators seldom do.

And finally, what's with Canada at the olympics? We have a grand total of seven medals: three silver and four bronze.
Last we looked, Canada has winter and these are the winter olympics. Why are our athletes not better able to compete with the rest of the world?
So far, Italy has the most medals at 17 with 6 gold medals, beating the US who has 14 with 4 gold medals.
Our guess is that not enough money was allocated to train our athletes or we didn't go around to vet the best of the best.
Our main hope is winning gold in the men's hockey tournament.
Good Shabbos
We'll talk...
