Put a Cork in It...The Super Bowl Dud...Dr. Pepper...Will There or Won't There be An Election:..A Cuban 'Vacation'?...

We are starting with the you-can't-make-this-up department.
A Toronto city councillor announced, with a straight face, that they are renaming a park in that city. The old name was Woodsy Park. The new name of the park is 'Ethennonnhawahstihnen' park.
The councillor then added that anyone unable or unwilling to pronounce the park’s new name would be “held accountable” to the ‘first peoples.’ Seriously? Best of luck to the voters who elected and now pay someone like this.
Do you also know that before they start a session of parliament in Ottawa this is what they say:
"We acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples, and we recognize the enduring presence of all First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples on this land.”
Can we talk? When is it enough? If you feel so badly about being on indigenous land, then guess what? Give it back.
And if you're not going to ever give it back then stop grovelling, lose all the woke, liberal, tree-hugging, snowflake bs and put a cork in it.

We're not going to delve to much into the super bowl game which was probably one of the most boring in history. We will venture a comment on the halftime show of which we did not understand one word as it was totally in Puerto Rican.
The set was nothing short of a very extravagant broadway show. We frankly found some of the music a bit much. But the big takeaway was who this show was geared to. Clearly not English speaking Americans. Nope.
It was geared 100% to the second largest demographic in the US, Hispanic or Latino Americans. In fact, their numbers have now overtaken black Americans.
Business people should take note of how the NFL operates.
It is primarily run by its 32 team owners, who act as a board of directors, with Roger Goodell serving as the Commissioner and chief executive officer since 2006. Goodell oversees league operations, while the owners make final decisions on rules, policies, and financial matters.
It is the most successful sports organization anywhere for a two reasons:
First, they keep their season short and tight. It starts in September and ends at the beginning of February, keeping their fans always wanting more.
Secondly, the owners are reading the room. Unlike baseball, which has become the sport of old men, football appeals to a much younger audience. As the owners wisely saw, there was a void in the second biggest demographic in the US and they did something about it by featuring popular Puerto Rican Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio aka the wildly popular Bad Bunny.
Their bet paid off as over 150 million people tuned into that show and we are guessing at least half were latinos.
All to say as a serious NFL fan, we now have to wait 8 months for the next game. Shreklach.

We would not be writing this next piece if we didn't live in Quebec. Alas, we are the third generation to live here and as such, need to pay attention to the idiots trying to run this province.
Legault, head of the current governing party the CAQ (we will never get used to that ridiculous name) is leaving. Two people are running for leadership: Christine Fréchette who was the Economy, Innovation and Energy Minister and none other than Bernie Drainville.
He was indoctrinated long ago that in order for quebec to survive, everybody needs to speak French. He believes that there's way too much English and other languages being spoken in people's homes.
So if he had his way, the quebec government would put monitors into our homes to make sure are all speaking french. Can we talk?
Quebec’s infrastructure is in visible, undeniable decay and almost bankrupt. Hospitals are held together by duct tape. Schools literally falling apart. The healthcare system so hostile that competent doctors are packing up and leaving. And then, like a bad recurring joke, more billions were allocated for the Olympic Stadium roof, a white elephant that most Quebecers never step foot in.
One cannot put lipstick on a pig, nor can one put brains in the head of french Canadians. They were just born with lesser intelligence. Or they are so corrupt that they have lost sight of how normal places actually run.
You best pray that Bernie Drainville gets nowhere near being the leader of that party.
And one can only hope the flailing liberal party will get its act together and find a leader who is not only clean, but has somewhat of a brain. Or that the conservative party, led by Eric Duhaime keeps slowly moving up in the polls. Otherwise we will be stuck with a separatist party who will make the caq look like geniuses.

Antisemitism is alive and flourishing Canada and at long last, some people in the Jewish community are speaking up about the fact that no one except police can carry guns. Oh wait. Police and the bad guys who all manage to find guns.
The regular security guard who watches over Jewish institutions is nothing more than a sitting duck if, G-d forbid, someone decides to enter a building with a gun. He will get it first so the rest of us can all run and hide.
It's time for government officials on every level to wake up before we have a Bondi Beach massacre here. Australia is now 'rethinking' all their gun laws, including allowing security guards to carry a weapon. We have said many times that in places like New York and Miami, many congregants go to synagogue 'carrying'.
So if someone comes in shooting, he may get one person but will be taken down in seconds.
Here? All we have are books, chairs and tables to protect ourselves from bullets. You figure it out.
So will Carney call an early election? Here are the pros and cons:
...Floor-crossing isn’t just some inside-baseball parliamentary move; to voters it reads as a breach of trust.
People didn’t vote for an individual with flexible loyalties. They voted for a platform, a party, and a set of promises. When an MP flips sides a year later, it feels less like pragmatism and more like bait and switch.
...While right now his personal poll is better than Poilievre, in politics things can change in a dime. People are noticing much higher grocery prices while he runs all over the world making deals that may or may not come to fruition. We don't need grandoise grandstanding, showing off all the people he knows. People are living paycheck to paycheck and what's he doing for them?
...He got into bed with conservative Premier Doug Ford of Ontario seemingly to discuss if he should hold a snap election. That makes all the other premiers look bad. And, Ford best remember he's not the prime minister.
...If Carney doesn't come up with some kind of agreement with Trump in the next month or so, all those who voted for him only because they thought he was the best guy to deal with him are going to take a long, second hard look at him.
It's time to put up or shut up. Thinking he is the only adult in the room is obnoxious, which is what Carney is.

Can we talk about the 3,000 people who chose to go to Cuba for a vacation? Clearly all of them are in perfect health with no underlying conditions and have at least a 2 week supply of whatever meds they are taking. If not, they are in serious trouble.
Trump has cut Cuba off from getting airline fuel from Venezula. As such, planes can get there, but cannot fuel up to get back home. Many large airlines, like Air Canada, WestJet and Transat have cancelled all flights to and from Cuba.
So what if you are are there now? Suck it up buttercup. You're stuck. And you best not get sick as no doubt their medical system is circa 1960.
Again we ask who exactly goes to Cuba on vacation no matter how cheap it is?

The fools who abducted Nancy Guthrie appear to be in way over their heads. We are guessing they thought they would kidnap this elderly woman, hold her for ransom for a couple of days and bob's your uncle, they would get $6 million in bitcoin.
Alas, things are not turning out well for them and even worse for Nancy Guthrie.
These dudes are now front and center in world news. How exactly they are going to extricate themselves without causing harm to Guthrie is a question that looms heavily on her family.
Today, more than a week after the kidnapping, U.S. authorities released the first surveillance images Tuesday showing a masked person on her porch with what appeared to be a handgun holster.
It appears authorities had to go through residual data located in backend systems to find those pictures.
Residual data refers to leftover information that remains on storage media even after deletion or formatting, which can be recovered using specialized tools. We are guessing that the kidnappers disabled her ring camera which is why this took so long.
Doesn't matter. The picture is fuzzy and you can't make out who the person behind the mask is.
We are also guessing that high profile people are now getting heavy security to protect their parents. What a world we live in, eh Blanche?
We'll talk...
