Up to now, whatever Justin Trudeau did or did not do had relatively little effect on our day-to-day lives. We may have thought him incapable of doing his job, over his head, but the truth is, nothing really touched us. Until now.
Now he can’t hide behind anyone – the emperor has no clothes – not even his India Mr. Dressup stuff. We speak of the vaccine for covid which you are not seeing until many other countries have vaccinated their population.
We reported in the last blog that on Sunday morning, Trudeau sent out his minister of procurement to speak on talk shows. In fact, he threw her under the bus, knowing full well she had no answers for any of the questions she would be asked. Trudeau tried to hide behind her, but guess what? It didn’t work and now the fan is facing directly at him.
So when will we get the vaccine? March? April? And who is in charge of the distribution of the vaccine? Did the government secure locations for mass inoculations? Other countries have rented conference centers to quickly, efficiently and safely vaccinate their population. What has Trudeau’s government done?
Trudeau’s black face antics, his Mr. Dressup in India, his throwing his female ministers under the bus all pale in comparison to his inability to understand that this time his incompetence is going to affect 35 million people directly.
We hope you took our suggestion to email your member of parliament very seriously as you and your family will be affected by the lack of leadership. This is coming or rather not coming to your doorstep.
A bit more on the American election by the numbers: Trump got 74 million votes, 11 million more than 2016. Had Trump found another 44,000 extra votes in Arizona, Wisconsin and Georgia, he would have won those states and produced a 269-269 tie in the electoral college. Congress would have had to break the tie and Trump would most likely have won. Alas, this is not what happened.
There’s no doubt he knows these numbers and it’s driving him to distraction, with Guilani the ear-whisperer egging him on that there was voter-fraud. However…
Joe Biden got 80 million votes, 16 million more than Hillary got in 2016 which is because Hillary, who ran in 2016 is an extremely unlikable person, with much disdain for the little peeps. Democrats simply stayed home and didn’t vote in 2016.
Why the Republicans did better than expected this time, actually way better, will be discussed for years to come. Our take is that while Biden is a likable fellow, he’s boring, doesn’t have good hair and is an old man. So while people were tired of Trump’s antics, tweets, loud mouth and orange hair, a lot of them could not pull the trigger and vote for Biden.
A final note on this: Trump was his own worst enemy by telling his base not to vote by mail. That, we believe, heavily contributed to his downfall, coupled with his huge mistake that people are not afraid of the virus. They are.
So because they feared their vote would go to the Democrats if they voted by mail and they wouldn’t stand in line with hundreds of other people to vote, Trump lost thousands of votes.
Not all populations, like us in Canada, lie down and simply take whatever edicts our governments decides to impose upon us. Yesterday, the Supreme Court of the United States backed a Challenge to NY governor Cuomo’s Covid religious restrictions.
Lest you think it is only the ‘religious’ Jews who are standing up, think again. The applicants are the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, two Jewish synagogues, and an Orthodox Jewish organization.
They are questioning the specifics and rationale of Cuomo’s restrictions that gatherings of more than 10 and 25 people contribute to the spread of the virus.
This is from the Supreme Court’s decision. Take the time to read it because we are affected the same way here, which also makes no sense.
“Not only is there no evidence that the applicants have contributed to the spread of COVID–19 but there are many other less restrictive rules that could be adopted to minimize the risk to those attending religious services.
Among other things, the maximum attendance at a religious service could be tied to the size of the church or synagogue. Almost all of the 26 Diocese churches immediately affected by the Executive Order can seat at least 500 people, about 14 can accommodate at least 700, and 2 can seat over 1,000.
Similarly, Agudath Israel of Kew Garden Hills can seat up to 400. It is hard to believe that admitting more than 10 people to a 1,000–seat church or 400–seat synagogue would create a more serious health risk than the many other activities that the State allows.”
And a final nail in the coffin for Cuomo came from Judge Neil Gorsuch:
“It is time — past time — to make plain that, while the pandemic poses many grave challenges, there is no world in which the Constitution tolerates color-coded executive edicts that reopen liquor stores and bike shops but shutter churches, synagogues and mosques.”
Touche. And that goes for many other edicts made here purely for political gain, not based on medical facts.
To further the above, take note of this genius, the mayor of Denver. After severely warning his peeps not to travel to see their families on Thanksgiving what does he do? Of course get on a flight to go visit his family. Cowardly, he begged for forgiveness, saying his erroneous decision was ‘borne out of my heart’. Bring the shovel dear, we need to clean up his load of crap.
No skin in the game for Mr. Michael Hancock, mayor of Denver. His rules are for the plebs, not for him. Another emperor with no clothes.
The dire situation in a nursing home in Montreal is worsening by the day. While it appears that nurses who transfer there stay in that place, orderlies and other caregivers are still flowing from one institution to another.
We also cannot believe that the mayor of Cote St. Luc, Mitchell Brownstein is going to a demonstration today. Can someone please inform Brownstein that there are times to leave your office and times to stay in your office? Clearly he doesn’t know when to do what.
As mayor of the city his job is to be in close and constant contact with both the hospital and government to try to alleviate the situation. Not tramp around the street with signs and a bullhorn. Seriously?
Remember the ‘free parking’ Mayor Valerie Plante promised us to help the downtown merchants? Well, her version of free parking and everyone else’s is quite different.
Free parking is from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Three hours on Thursday and Friday night is going to help merchants? It’s pretty obvious that someone else does her shopping and/or she hasn’t been out for a while.
If she really wants to help the merchants downtown, give free parking all day. Anything less is useless, which she is.
Good Shabbos We’ll talk…
