Slip ups at this time are going to happen and did so with Justin.
After telling people not to go to their cottages and shelter in place, what did Justin do this past weekend? Go to his cottage. Seems his family has been there for three weeks while he was in Ottawa. Boohoo. People have not seen their elderly parents in those dreaded nursing homes for three weeks. We have not seen our elderly mother for three weeks and are adhering to the edicts which Trudeau has imposed. Why are the rules different for him?
If his wife had the wherewithal to keep it quiet, most people would never haven known.
Alas, she is clearly unable to keep herself off social media and posted a picture of her family at the cottage. Seriously? Neither she nor Justin had the intelligence to lay low? While he may be doing a somewhat good job in these times, his sense of entitlement is still stronger than the rules for us plebs.
Did anyone see that video posted by Donald Trump at his news 3 1/2 hour conference yesterday? What the heck was that all about?
To show that he didn’t say the virus would disappear in a few days? Guess what, it didn’t and he was wrong. The video was slickly done and very conveniently left out of the timeline the few weeks in February when nothing was being done. No preparations at all.
Trump also retweeted someone’s tweet ‘time to fire Fauci’. When asked he said why he retweeted this he said, ‘I just retweeted it, he’s not being fired.’ This does not illicit very much comfort in his ability to lead the country.
While there is no doubt that Trump is doing some things right at this time, he is making it increasingly difficult for anyone but the core of the core of the core of his base to continue to support him.
Boris Johnson certainly got his in spades. A few short weeks ago, he poo-pooed this virus. England continued as usual. Subways were packed, as were theatres and restaurants.
Then he got sick, very, very sick and lucky for him, made it through. He’s now singing a different tune, coming ever so close to saying he made a huge mistake at the beginning of this virus. England now has 11,329 deaths while in Canada we have 823 deaths. Numbers don’t lie and Johnson dropped the ball.
So who will Joe Biden choose as his Vice-President? One thing we know is that it will be a woman and she will be considerably younger than him. Our guess is that it will not be Elizabeth Warren, even though she is in the running, as her likability factor is in the minus department.
We checked around and found the top ten which includes Warren: Kamala Harris who ran for the presidential nomination. Very, very tough woman.
Amy Klobuchar also ran for the nomination and is more likeable than Harris
Catherine Cortez Masto the first Latina senator in the US when she took office in 2017, after serving as Nevada’s attorney general. She has two things going for her: She’s a woman and she’s a minority.
Gretchen Whitmer governor of Michigan since 2018. Insiders liked her so much so that they tapped her to deliver the response to Trump’s State of the Union address last year.
Tammy Duckworth the second Asian American woman in the Senate. The 52-year-old lost both her legs and the full use of her right arm when the Black Hawk helicopter she was piloting during the Iraq war was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade. She is the first female double amputee elected to the Senate and the first senator to give birth while in office.
Stacey Abrams narrowly missed becoming the first African American female governor in US history when she lost the 2018 Georgia governor’s race. She’s friends with AOC, ergo one of the more extreme left wing of the party.
Val Demings is an African American congresswoman from Florida who rose to national prominence after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi chose her as one of seven Democrats to serve as a manager in the impeachment proceedings against Trump. Before coming to Congress, she worked her way up through the ranks of the Orlando, Florida police department to become its first female chief.
Tammy Baldwin is the first openly gay Senator and also represents a critical swing state. She sits with the ‘progressive’ left of the party. Ergo, she’s an extremist.
Michelle Lujan Grisham served three terms in the House before being elected governor in 2018 and is also one of the highest-ranking Latina elected officials in the US. We saw her speak and she’s very impressive.
Trump is fighting with the governors, saying that he has the total authority to decide how and when to reopen the economy. Whether this is true or not, instead of having a public pis.ing contest, why can’t they have a conference call?
Our question is that each state has their own crisis to deal with, each on very different levels. For example, New York and New Jersey are horrendous, while New Mexico is not that bad. Why can’t governors, who are in the thick of it, make this decision?
Just because Trump says the economy is now open, doesn’t mean it is. Florida is just heading into the worst of the crisis, setting up many temporary hospitals. If he decides that May 1 is the date to reopen, that would prove to be disastrous for Florida. It just doesn’t work the way he says it does.
Everybody wants the economy to reopen but it has to be done responsibly or we will wind up right back where we are now and that would be much, much worse.
We finally found something funny. Montreal is about to launch its pothole repair department to fix all the potholes in Montreal. Don’t worry, the workers will stay far away from each other which makes it much easier for the one person filling the pothole to do his job without the other dudes breathing down his neck.
We also never heard from our illustrious mayor Plante if the mixture filling said potholes is made up of more than rocks and water, making it a given that said potholes will be back before you can say bobs your uncle.
Please note there will be no Blanche Report on Thursday as the second days of Passover begin tonight and do not end until Thursday at 8:30 pm.
We’ll talk…
