Gruesome

Among the more horrifying parts of the beheading of an American journalist, was the person who did the hideous act. His total lack of any humanity is beyond words, something that we who live in a civilized society will never understand. He spoke with a British accent which means he is a Brit who somewhere along the line became a radical islamist. Those Brits have since been gruesomely nicknamed The Beatles.

Connected to the above, last weekend in a supermarket (Sainsbury) in Great Britain, kosher food was removed from the shelves over fear that anti-Israeli protesters would attack the store. They were outside chanting free gaza. The pictures of the empty shelves went viral prompting people to ask if halal products would also be removed in protest against the islamic state slaughtering non-Arab, non-muslim Yazidis. Nothing of the sort happened.

In the end, the food was returned to the shelves and no action was taken against the manager or the store by head office. In Birmingham England, pro-gaza supporters entered another store and threw kosher produce on the floor.

A quick search on the internet produced this: Children who took Easter eggs to class allegedly had them confiscated by “Muslim morality squads” patrolling a school in Birmingham, England. The school is at the center of an investigation into claims Islamic hardliners are attempting to infiltrate and run secular state schools in the city.

When and if isis decides that England is their next target, it appears they have already put enough radical islamists in place throughout the country to do as they wish. For their part, the Brits are still under the illusion that democracy will win out. We fear that for England and many other European countries such as Beligum and France, it is too late. Basically, they have to rely on the kindness and compassion of G-d at this point. Those countries blew it.

In case you were not sure if the Parti Quebecois here in Quebec is rotten to the core, we have positive proof for you. A new book entitled The Morning After written by the highly respected journalist Chantal Hebert has quite a few rather startling revelations. Among the top three is this: In 1995 had the yes side won and sovereignty become a reality, Parizeau was going to make sure the year long negotiations with Canada would fail, enabling him to declare Quebec an independent country.

Lucien Bouchard had forced Parizeau to promise that after a Yes vote, he would offer the rest of Canada a new partnership, political as well as economic, with a sovereign Quebec. Parizeau agreed to this demand to his face, but behind his back was going to pull a fast one. He was going to send people to Ottawa with the intent of failing the negotiations.

Quoting part of an article in today’s paper, ‘ He (parizeau) carefully worded the referendum question to give him a mandate to lead Quebec out of Canada without the latter’s agreement, while promising only the “offer” of a partnership, not the partnership agreement itself.

So Blanche, whadda have to say now? Parizeau almost makes Marois and her missives with the charter of values look good – dare we say that? Truthfully, the whole lot of them are dishonest, scheming and conniving politicians. Ich and feh.

Back to isis for a moment. It seems that the US Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel has woken up. He stated that this terrorist radical islamist group “marry ideology and a sophistication of strategic and tactical military prowess. They are tremendously well funded. This is beyond anything we have seen.”

Now they wake up? When it hits home with the murder of an American? What do they think Israel is fighting? Just hamas? Could someone run out to the ninth hole and tell Obama it’s time to go back to work? He’ll be ok if he has to forfeit a game. After all, he is the president of the United States, isn’t he?

Senior hamas leader salah arouri said in a news conference yesterday that hamas was responsible for the kidnapping and killing of three Israeli teens that sparked the current crisis in Gaza. While hamas has praised the act before, no hamas official has explicitly taken credit for it. Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon has called for the total destruction of hamas. We’ll see where this one goes.

The Farmers Almanac has come out with this year’s weather report. Colder than usual winter, more snow in the Northeast and less in New England. Can we talk? We have said this on numerous occasions: they cannot predict the weather 48 hours in advance and now they are predicting six months in advance? Time will tell. Meanwhile, enjoy the summer.

In 2010 a volcano in Iceland began spewing volcanic ash. The fallout (pardon the pun) is that overseas flights had to be rerouted for about six days at a cost of about $1.7 billion. It also inconvenienced about 10 million flying passengers. Well folks (that’s Obama’s favorite word), the volcano is alive and kicking again.

We’re not quite at a no-fly zone yet, but it could be coming to the sky near you – especially if you live in Iceland. Stay tuned.

In case you are looking for a new phone, perhaps you should read this piece. Starting Thursday at 9 a.m. local times, the Wal-Mart is selling the iPhone 5s for $79 and the iPhone 5c for a mere 97 cents. Why you ask?

The next generation of iPhones is coming on on September 9 and large retailers want to get rid of their old stock. May we suggest shopping online to avoid the crush of people? More civilized dawling.

Good Shabbos, We’ll talk…
