No Blanche, You Didn’t Get Taller

It should come as no surprise that those who have a lot of cash to give are also those who have the most at stake in decisions made by the federal government. That’s why politicians get so much money from special interests.

Which is why it is no surprise that a list suddenly appeared showing all the special interest companies that donated money – staggering amounts –  to the Clinton Foundation. Bill Gates gave her $26,000,000. Coca Cola gave between $5 and $10 million. Pfizer, Procter and Gamble, Boeing, Hewlett Packard all gave her between $1 and $5 million.

Now here’s the kicker: At least 181 companies, individuals, and foreign governments that have given to the Clinton Foundation also lobbied the State Department when Hillary Clinton ran the place. As the article stated, ‘It’s not illegal, but scandalous.’ That’s for sure.

We wonder how she stood in front of that picket fence and said she understands the little folks. Ya know, if she would tell the truth and say who she really is, then maybe people would believe her. The list we quoted from has gzillions of dollars in donations to the Clintons. Can you say slimy?

The city of Baltimore seems to be a mirror of what is going on in the United States. Yet another black man mysteriously died while in police custody. There is no doubt and statistics will prove that black men make up the majority of men in prison. They are far from angels. Given that, the system is broken.

We were around and remember the race riots in the late sixties. The riots in Baltimore remind us of those times. Frustration, deaf ears, never-ending promises of change that never materializes and an ‘old white boys club’ have created what is happening in that city. The United States is lucky these riots are not spreading as they did in the sixties when city after city succumbed to race riots.

The answer? Not simple. Both cultures – white policemen and black youth – have to be willing to say there’s a problem in their camp and vow to make things better. The likes of Al Sharpton wading into this mess will only stir the pot. Obama is certainly not the one to bring the two sides together. A weak leader is weak on all fronts – internationally and nationally.

In the meantime, there’s a curfew for a week from nightfall to daybreak; schools are closed; the Baltimore Orioles played a game today in an empty stadium due to the curfew and danger getting there; the looting is unprecedented as is the destruction. It’s just pathetic all around.

People are complaining about the parking fees at the new hospital. Get a grip. Parking is expensive in most hospitals. It’s called sticker shock. Pay it and move along.

Why aren’t those same people complaining about the city meters that don’t show how much money is left? Someone could have paid for two hours and spent only one hour of their time. Our meters don’t show the remaining time and you wind up paying twice for the same time. That’s disgusting. The earthquake in Nepal is heartbreaking. There was little if any infrastructure to begin with and now there is simply nothing left. The airport has one runway, Canada has minimal diplomatic ties and many, many people are stranded there. If you are planning to give relief money, beware of where you are giving. Not every website is on the up and up and scam artists come out of the word work for this kind of disaster. In case you were thinking of going to the loo on a flight, think again. To save space on planes, airlines are shrinking the loos by 8 inches. So if your knees hit the sink getting up from the terlit, it’s not because you grew by a few inches.

Truthfully, the airlines are pigs. Many are also planning on adding an extra 14 seats per plane. Traveling has become a huge pain and unpleasant experience and a necessary evil to get go on vacation. Fech.

We’ll talk…
