Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were married for 73 years. That alone is an achievement in this day and age.
Philip was known for sometimes being, shall we say, overly truthful. Perhaps that was what was so endearing about him. He never lost his zest for life.
From the many pictures surfacing now, it is very clear that Philip, who was 99 years-old was a much beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. When William and Harry were reluctant to walk behind their mother’s casket, it was Prince Philip who gave them strength to do so, walking beside them.
Behind the scenes we have no doubt that he was a tower of strength to William and especially Harry when their mother died.
As for Meghan and Harry attending the funeral, we sincerely hope the media has a shred of decency to back off and allow Harry to grieve the passing of his beloved grandfather. While Meghan may not go to the funeral, there’s no way Harry will not attend. The pandemic will definitely make a difference as to how this funeral pans out, but it will still, no doubt, be a royal affair.
On a purely human level, we feel for the Queen. No matter how old one’s spouse is when they leave this world, it is always, always sad. This is the end of an era.
