Charles Krauthammer, of blessed memory

The world lost a good man when Charles Krauthammer passed away last week. The voice of reason, sensibility, honesty, intelligence and most of all, integrity. There are a few ‘normal’ voices out there and he was one of the best.

Here’s something to ponder. This was on the website of all MUHC hospitals: The MUHC is asking that you avoid their emergency room, if you can. The hospital is having computer problems and is asking anyone who does not require urgent care to avoid its emergency departments.

It wasn’t only the emergency that was having problems. If the computer system is down, it’s down all over the hospital. We know someone who was waiting for important test results today. Nada. Nothing. Go home. Are we the only one who thinks their system was hacked and they need better firewalls?

Last weekend, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump’s spokesperson, was asked to leave a restaurant where she was dining with her family. To fully understand what happened, we turn to the late Charles Krauthammer. In an article he wrote in July 2002, he hit the nail on the head when describing how liberals view conservative-thinking people:

To understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil.

…If only we (conservatives) could get social conditions right — eliminate poverty, teach anger management, restore the ozone, everyone would be holding hands smiley-faced, rocking back and forth to “We Shall Overcome.” Did he not hit the nail on the head?

In other words, if you don’t think the way they do, you are evil, mean and nasty. Ergo, it’s fine to throw Sanders out of a restaurant.

Here’s a headline: No, it’s not right. You may not agree with anything she says or does. You may despise Trump and despise the fact that she speaks for him. You may despise her hair, the way she dresses and how she speaks. But she is allowed to go to a restaurant with her family, in peace, and not be harassed. And if that simple modicum of civility cannot be found, then liberals have to take a long, hard look at themselves.

Blanche, you know how we’ve been saying that there’s no one in the Democrat party to run for president? That may be over shortly. Michael Bloomberg, who by the way is 76 years old, is seriously considering a run for president in 2020.

Since 2016 he has spent $80 million to help other hopefuls. Don’t worry about him. Bloomberg’s net worth was estimated at $51.7 billion, making him the 8th-richest person in the United States and the 11th richest person in the world.

Here’s something interesting…he was initially a Democrat, but switched to the GOP in 2001 when he ran and won the New York mayoralty, where he served until 2013. If he does run, he will definitely give Trump, pardon the pun, a run for his money. This would be the most equal race, both New Yorkers, both rich, old men and both not needing anything from anyone to help them run.

Most like you have never heard of vice president for domestic research Dr. Lawrence B. Finer. Research of what? The Guttmacher Institute, which began as part of Planned Parenthood and funnels pro-abortion propaganda to the organization every year. Dr. Finer has been charged with sexually harassing female staffers. That’s really creepy. Feh.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been declared the winner of Sunday’s presidential election in Turkey. He won by 52%, no doubt by stuffing ballot boxes.

What’s to be nervous about his election? He is quickly taking Turkey from being a modern, vibrant society into a closed, Islamic society. In January 2002 Turkish men were no longer regarded in law as head of the family. That move gave women full legal equality with men, 66 years after women’s rights were put on the statute books. That’s over.

Erdoğan’s victory means he will now assume an office imbued with sweeping executive powers including the power to issue decrees with the force of law, appoint the cabinet and vice-presidents as well as senior judges. In other words, he’s a dictator and an Islamic one at that.

We’ll talk…
