Hello Darkness My Old Friend, I’ve come to Talk to You Again…And Touched the Sounds of S

Blanche, do you wonder if we are the only ones confused at this time? And we mean really confused.

In one corner what happened to George Lloyd was incomprehensible to any normal (whatever that is) human being. Who would brazenly, with cameras running, put a knee on someone’s neck and hold it there until he died, all the while listening to him beg to breath. We cannot fathom this.

In another, equally extreme corner, we have a YouTuber by the name of Smooth Sanchez Streamer pretending to represent Black lives matter in order to get a woman  on her knees and apologize for being born white.  Add to this white neighbours in Texas kneeling in front of their black neighbours apologising for the racism done to black people for hundreds of years.

Somewhere in between these two extremes lies a place where thinking people can come together.

Since our last blog, many black ‘leaders’ have spoken out, including Obama. We watched his address. For starters, he’s sooooo calm. Soothingly, obnoxiously calm. It was discerning. Next he looked like he was sitting in his mansion in Washington. Wait. He was sitting in his mansion in Washington…far from the protests.

We forgot how he sounds. “…we should all be thankful for folks who are willing, in a peaceful, disciplined way, to be out there making a difference.” How nice.

He then called on every mayor in the United States to review use-of-force policies and to aggressively pursue an eight-point slate of police reforms that include mandatory de-escalation of conflicts, a ban on shooting at moving vehicles, timely reporting of violent incidents, and prohibitions on some forms of restraint used by the police. Sounds good but…

He stopped just short of getting his hands dirty. How many states are there? 50. How about saying that he will undertake to find 50 black men and find someone who will find 50 white men to make sure his eight-point slate of reforms actually happens?

He won’t get so involved that he will actually be accountable. It would mean getting down there with the ‘folks’ and he’s way, way above those people.

Lest you have forgotten, we are still in the midst of a global pandemic and a lot of our society is still closed down. You would never, however, have figured that out by the way people taking part in protests are hugging each other. In two weeks we do not want to hear that there is yet another white conspiracy being done to the black population after many, many people come down with the coronavirus. What exactly did they think was going to happen if they flouted what the medical authorities are continuously begging us to do – social distance. Stay tuned. On many levels this is not over. Remember Bernie Sanders aka Zaidy Bernie? Haven’t heard from him in a while, eh? Well, he’s back in the news and of course not for a good thing. It’s a good thing he’s not running for president because he is unable to hold his own campaign team together.

Zaidy Bernie is busy with Joe Biden. His top advisors, Faiz Shakir and Analilia Mejia, are reportedly in the middle of inking a deal with Biden’s team which would preserve Sanders’ delegates but allow for Sanders and his allies to exert influence over the Democratic party platform.

However, with a real capital H, former Sanders insiders are having conniption fits because Sanders seems to be pandering to Washington insiders, the death knell for the second group.

Sanders has other big problems as well. Before he left, one of Zaidy Joe’s serious insiders, stole an email list from the campaign and is going to use it to create his own paid newsletter. Face facts peeps – Zaidy Bernie was never presidential material.

In case you are looking to throw some money away, we found the perfect place…the GoFundMe page for Jacques Parizeau’s family to enable them to put a bust of his ‘panim’ aka face in the National Assembly in Quebec City.

We will remind you of the iconic remark made by the late Parizeau on Oct. 30, 1995 when the separatists lost the referendum: “We are beaten, it is true,” he said. “But by what, basically? By money and ethnic votes.”

One must ask themselves the obvious question: Why is Premier Legault and his government aka our tax dollars not paying for this when they have busts of other separatists like Rene Levesque?

Our guess is that nobody wants to be reminded of this dude as his racist words not only fit in perfectly these days, but they remind everybody of exactly what the Parti Quebecois stands for: white, catholic, French speaking, pure Laine.

Not good news coming out of Florida. On Wednesday, the state reported 1,317 additional cases, which had been the biggest one-day increase since the April 17 previous high.

The cases today represent what occurred about two weeks ago which was Memorial Day weekend. It is likely to blame for the increase in cases, both due to relaxation of social distancing measures and the holiday resulting in more people moving about. Take note people.

So Blanche, what do you think about Trudeau’s 21 seconds of silence when asked for his thoughts on Trump’s call for military action against protesters across the U.S. Pretty simple. Trudeau couldn’t think of what to say and he’s just not smart enough to wing it. Ten seconds is an eternity at a live news conference. 21 seconds? Even if he was trying to be a drama queen he went over the limit of dead air on live television.

Hey Blanche, maybe he was auditioning to sing the Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel but didn’t realise that it’s a song, not actual silence. Hehehehehehe.

Good Shabbos We’ll talk…
